Weyba Downs
Around 2 hours north of Brisbane is Weyba Downs, a lowkey destination where you can relax, enjoy the sun, and lap up what the Sunshine Coast has on offer. Because you’re already this far, you’re within arm’s reach of the famous Noosa, where you can explore the ocean, take a horse riding adventure, or enjoy the coastal dining precincts that boast rich and flavourful seafood dishes.
Byron Bay
Two hours south of the city, Byron Bay is one of the most popular tourist destinations for both locals and international visitors in the country. Getting there isn’t tricky, just make your way to the M3 and get yourself onto the M1. From there, you’ll make your way towards Mt Tamborine, which will be your halfway point.

Bunya Mountains
Probably our longest trek, Bunya Mountains is around 3 hours from Brisbane City – but the trip is worth it. Known for being a spectacular wilderness range, these mountains are full of lush green rainforests, eucalypt trees, and woodlands that are home to some of the worlds largest bunya pines. Although an adventurous trip, those who will appreciate Bunya Mountains are individuals who love panoramic views, lush surroundings, waterholes, and waterfalls, along with cool and crisp temperatures.
Stanthorpe
Vineyards, the balancing rock, Christmas farms, snow, truffles – what’s not to love about Stanthorpe? Depending on the time of year that you visit, there is an abundance to endure at this little Queensland town. Just under 3 hours out of Brisbane, Stanthorpe is well known for is crisp winters, with the potential for family and friends to see a blanket of snow in the early morning; if you’re someone who laps up the Christmas spirit year on year, you’re going to love the Christmas tree farm that is open to the public year round – experience the smell of pine, picking your own tree, and the crunch of the needles underfoot.
